at Gingerman Raceway - Michigan
November 6, 1999
Speed Trial USA officials, Bryan, Peter, and Tommy arrive at the track early
morning to find the track was one of the most beautiful scenery ever seen. The
track was surrounded by green stuff known as "grass". Right away, in
astonishment, we couldn't wait to get on the track. This event was our first
event outside of California and the excitement was in the air as the cold
temperature slowly warmed up throughout the day with perfect clear skies.
Morning registration, mandatory drivers' meeting, and tech inspection all went
fairly smooth considering we were new to the track and all the great people of
the Midwest and east coast. Cars range from a variety of Japanese, European, and
Domestic street cars. This event was their first ever to have such a huge array
of assortment of motorcars all in one time. There was even an Audi wagon that
was tearing up the track. The motorsport enthusiasts in the Midwest have proven
to us they have all the ingredients of excitement and drive like the grassroots
patrons in the west coast.
Morning and afternoon practice all have been very smooth except for a couple of
radiator spills and one car off the track/tow-in. The event not only went
smoothly, but safely and most of all everyone had fun. Thanks to a couple
sponsors out there in the Midwest, Speed Sport and Best Racing, and special
thanks to Stephen Chu for an excellent work on spreading word of our
forthcoming.
We are looking
forward to having more fun with all the cheerful people of the Midwest and East
coast.
